Visit to Balmorhea

Yesterday we drove about 3 hours out to find water!
We went to Balmorhea which is a 77,000 sq. ft. natural spring in the middle of the desert. It was so neat, and really felt like an oasis! About 28 million gallons of fresh spring water flows into the pool each day and the water is around 74 degrees year round. There were about 40 people there in total so it was very nice to get away from busy El Paso. The pool/spring was 25ft deep at some points and you could see all the way to the bottom. Pep and Matt got snorkels and could see the fish and turtles swimming around them.
Today Pep has to go back to work, but only 2 more days until our trip to the East Coast. Pep and I are also really excited about our mini vacation to DC and Maine, and of course celebrating our 1 year anniversary on Sunday. Well, I am absolutely exhausted (and it's only 09:00!!) but have lots of errands to run this morning, and we are also attending our first childbirth prep class tonight! Busy times!!! Anyway time to go get ready, see you all soon!

Some catfish that were swimming around the side of the pool. There were hundreds of little minnows swimming around too.

A picture of the pool.

Just a picture of the desert scenery we drove through to get to Balmorhea.
