For my Two Little Dandelions

Since it is the official month for honoring the military child, I thought I would share this sweet little tidbit that a friend of mine posted on Facebook tonight :)

The official flower of the Military child is the Dandelion. Why? The plant puts down roots almost anywhere, and it's almost impossible to destroy. It's an unpretentious plant, yet good looking. It's a survivor in a broad range of climates. Military children bloom everywhere the winds carry them. They are hardy and upright. Their roots are strong, cultivated deeply in the culture of the military, planted swiftly and surely. They're ready to fly in the breezes that take them to new adventures, new lands, and new friends.

Experts say that military children are well-rounded, culturally aware, tolerant, and extremely resilient. Military children have learned from an early age that home is where their hearts are, that a good friend can be found in every corner of the world and in every color, and that education doesn't only come from school. They live history. They learn that to survive means to adapt, that the door that closes one chapter of their life opens up to a new and exciting adventure full of new friends and new experiences.

That's right friends, deployment. Yuck! A not so fun part of Army life that we knew was coming. Hence the lack of blogging over here.

People keep telling me to "stay busy" because it will help the time go by faster. Honestly, how do you NOT stay busy when you have a 2.5 year old and an 8 month old cruiser? That just makes me laugh every time I hear it :)

Really though, it's not so bad. I really miss the hubs but we have our routine down, and the past couple of months have just flown by. Our R&R vacation for Disney World is booked and we are just counting the weeks! Macie talks about meeting Ariel every single day, and Mason... well, he drools a lot (top two teeth coming in!) but I'm sure he's just as excited as big sis! I must say, I'm pretty excited myself :)

Well I just wanted to post a quick update, I'm not going to make any false promises of another post coming soon because let's face it... I'm no good at keeping up with this blog. For now I'll blame it on deployment!

10 months in 6 bullets

I'm back :)
I'm almost embarassed to write on here. It has been so long and so much has happened since my last post. Let's summarize the last 10 months with some bullet points...
* I don't think I mentioned it on here yet, but as dramatic as it sounds, we survived a tornado that ripped through our neighborhood on Ft. Leonard Wood on New Year's Eve. Lots of damage, thankfully no lives lost.
* We wanted to get out of our destroyed housing area, so we signed a contract for a new construction house - the builder scammed us and after waiting for 5 months we had to walk away.
* We signed another contract for another new build. That house was completed in 90 days and I'm now sitting in my new living room :)
* We went on a wonderful trip to Disney World!
* Macie turned 2 years old! Where does the time go?
.... and last but not least, one of my favorite things to talk about...
* Mason was born on August 2, 2011! Sigh... he's just the sweetest baby ever, and I can't take my eyes off him.

I will be back more frequently to update this blog. It looks like life is finally calming down a little, until a few weeks from now, anyway.

First Steps

Our Macie is walking, and I was so lucky to catch her very first steps on camera! I thought she was going to walk at 14 months-ish, but the little sneak started walking at 13 months and 30 days! Everyone tells me I am really going to miss my freedom, but for now I am loving her new moves. Here is a facebook video, if you can't see it you might need to friend me on facebook if you haven't already. Have a great weekend and Halloween everyone!
Enjoy the video!

The hubs came home with orders last week. We are headed back to the wood, and (he) couldn't be more excited! I have mixed feelings - excited to be around grass and trees again, but I will definitely miss the beautiful weather and the friends I've made here. That's the Army though, and it is time to move on!
Looks like we're trying to schedule our arrival at Ft. Leonard Wood on November 25th - as in, Thanksgiving Day. We'll be eating our turkey dinner at good ole Cracker Barrel... making memories yeahhhh!!!!

At last...

My buddy is HOME!
Finally, after months of field time he is back. Just thought I'd share my excitement with everyone :)
